Danang in the early May has entered the high season of domestic tourism. As an attractive destination with safety tourism environment, qualified services, this city has been always at top list options for tourists in this summer vacation.
Attracting domestic tourists:
Travel companies informed that from late April to September annually is highest season of domestic tourists in which sea tourism has been playing the most important role.
Accounted for about 80% of total arrivals to Danang, domestic market is considered to be the main source for the tourism sector in this city. “At the moment, as the season for Europe market has just finished, ships not as hustling as before, this is the golden season for the domestic market. The number of tourists coming to Danang increased significantly in the holidays April 30 and May 1 showing the potential of an amazing summer for travel companies and service suppliers to do business.”, said Mr Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of Danang Travel Association.
From the tourists coming to Danang, travel companies mainly operate the source from the north of Vietnam. Doing research in several big travel companies, tours from the Northern Vietnam to Danang account for about 65-70% of the total domestic arrivals.
Mr Dinh Van Loc, Director of Viet Da Travel said: “The demand of traveling from the northern tourists this year is more than the southern ones with higher spending amount and longer time of staying. This is a potential for a big revenue for travel companies within this domestic tourism.”.
This year, the domestic market is divided into two distinct product lines which are high-end and budget tourism. A new highlight of domestic tourism this year was that Danang also attracted many tourists from the neighbouring provinces of Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City such as Bac Can, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa … (northern region) and Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho … (southern region).
“Many tourists from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City coming to Danang in summer seasons before now choose to travel oversea more. Meanwhile, tourists from other markets are still new but promising to contribute to increasing the number of tourists to Danang. Currently, Vitours has operated about 50% tourists from other provinces and cities to Danang.”, said Ms Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Deputy Director of Domestic Market Division, Vitours.
Pushing building tourism products
This summer, Danang tourism industry plans to build a number of typical products to welcome the new tourism season. With the potential from rivers, mountains and beaches, Danang will focus on developing tourism products in 3 directions which are beach tourism, leisure tourism and eco-tourism. For beach tourism, Danang will focus on developing services for sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing, yachting…with the large resorts. However, according to the travel companies, the biggest issue of attracting tourists to Danang is that these products are still small and fragmentary.
“To attract tourists to Danang, we must have products but compared to Hoi An and Hue, the products of Danang are still not good enough to attract long-stay tourists. We look forward to the city’s tourism industry to accelerate the development of typical products such as river cruises, Son Tra tourism as well as tourism projects for travel companies to operate the tour program.”, sai Mr Cao Tri Dung.
